Dallas Jenkins Gives God the Glory as 'The Chosen' Wraps Filming on Final Season
Dallas Jenkins posted an emotional video from the cast and crew wrap party for "The Chosen," and the message he kept returning to was simple: thank you. In the video, the creator, director, and co-writer of the hit series based on the life of Jesus Christ thanked fans, the cast and crew, his wife and family — and, most of all, God.
"I want to make sure you hear me, who I'm most grateful to first," Jenkins said. "And that's God who birthed this project through me, and I'll never fully understand why he chose me to do it."
He described the morning of the final day of shooting: after 528 days of filming, he woke up with joy, realizing that for the first time, another day of filming was not hanging over his head. "I just went into the front lawn, doing kind of my morning prayer and alone time," he said, "and I just kept saying to God, 'Look what you've done. Look at what you've done. Look at what you've done.'"
Jenkins said he grew tearful at the wrap party, and that the word running through his head was "gratitude." He thanked his wife, Amanda, who he said "survived cancer through this journey," noting how difficult the project has been for his family from the beginning. He also thanked his children and the sacrifices made by the entire cast and crew to bring the story to life.
He saved warm words for the show's supporters as well: "You who have literally kept us going, literally financed our production, literally supported us through social media, through spreading the word, through prayer, through donations, through purchasing gifts."
According to ChurchLeaders, the series has wrapped filming on its seventh and final season, which covers the resurrection of Jesus. Season 6, covering the day of Jesus' crucifixion, will begin streaming on Prime Video on November 15. The season 6 finale will be released exclusively in theaters in the spring of 2027.
What began as a crowdfunded project has become a worldwide phenomenon, carrying the Gospel accounts to audiences across nations and languages. The coming final season will tell the most important chapter of the story — the resurrection — in which the whole Christian hope rests.
