Young Christian Musicians Get Shot at Opening for KB Through Camp Electric’s Rock the Camp Contest
A new generation of Christian musicians is getting a door opened to them. Camp Electric, the annual music and faith camp held at Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, has launched its fourth annual Rock the Camp contest — and this year’s grand prize winner will earn the chance to open for Dove Award-winning Christian hip-hop artist KB at a concert in Nashville next summer.
The contest, powered by Fender, invites aspiring Christian artists to submit performance videos. Along with the opening slot at a KB concert in summer 2027, the winner will receive a Fender 75th Anniversary electric guitar — a worthy tool for a young musician’s calling.
Video submissions opened Oct. 5 and will be accepted through Nov. 6, according to reporting by ChurchLeaders. Public voting begins Nov. 2 and runs through Nov. 15, with supporters able to vote once per day using their email addresses.
Public voting will narrow the field to five finalists, whose performances will then be evaluated by a panel of Christian artists and music industry professionals. The judging panel includes award-winning producer and songwriter Tommee Profitt, Christian recording artists Colton Dixon, bodie, and Terrian, and Charles Van Dyke, vice president of promotion and partnerships at Provident/Sony Music.
The contest has a track record of helping launch real music careers. Among its notable past winners is Joseph O’Brien, who won the competition in 2019 and later signed with Gotee Records.
Rock the Camp is part of Camp Electric’s broader mission: to encourage young musicians to develop their God-given talents while growing in their Christian faith. It is ministry through mentorship — older artists investing in younger ones, skill and faith developing side by side.
For young believers who love music, the contest is a reminder that talent is a stewardship. Scripture teaches that whatever we do, we should do it heartily, as for the Lord and not for men. When a young artist picks up a guitar or steps to a microphone to glorify God, the stage becomes a pulpit of sorts — a place where excellence and faithfulness can point listeners toward Christ.
Young artists interested in entering, or fans who want to vote, can find the details through Camp Electric’s website.
